Flying Lawnmowers

After pitching our short stories on Wednesday to rest of the class we decided to use the Lawnmower Man story to develop into our short film. There were lots of good suggestions to the story which make a lot of sense. One good suggestion was to change the ending and have the character trip over the old push mower rather then just run around it. When he trips and falls over the mower it will keep him from running too far off frame and open the possibility of cowering in fear as the Mow Master grows closer only to be saved when the Mow Master runs over the push mower and gets destroyed. The story still has a few places that need to be oiled out a bit better but it has been getting better with every revision.

Now we are working on character design and sketches over the weekend. Personally I'm considering having the Mow Master be something along the lines of a crazy lawnmower hybrid between a rider mower and a gas push power or maybe what the result would be if a monster truck was crossed with a gas lawnmower. I'm thinking of having the manual push mower look old, rusted, and very basic to help create a contrast between it and the power mower. I don't really know about the mowing man other then he will be walking on two legs which leaves a lot of options.
