Random Story Ideas
Here are a few random story ideas I've been messing around with over the past few days. I'm trying to come up with a story that fits with our total time constraint of a minute and won't be too complicated. These are only rough ideas and need a lot more work if they even make it past this point.
- Alex gets frustrated with push power. Buys intimidating power mower with a mind of it's own.
Starts with Alex struggling to mow the lawn with a rusty push mower: push.. push.. jam! Struggle etc. Finally he gets fed up and comes back with a big box.. Power Mower 3000 (or something) tears open the box to reveal intimidating mower. As he steps back to admire it, he gets startled by the push bar suddenly snapping out and unfolding. Eventually he stars the mower which takes off at a terrific speed Alex flying along behind, a hand around the bar. Looses grip, falls, looks up to see mower heading back right at him and gets up to run with the mower chasing after him.
Another take is to have the mower take off on its own after he manages to start it, and turns around off camera to chase after him. It almost gets him but runs over the abandoned push mower which tears it apart. The old push mower saved Alex's life?
Another spin off the story idea of "appliances gone bad" idea is:
- Jerrry is presenting a cooking show when the blender/food processor/toaster becomes possessed either refusing to do what it was requested (spitting out toast, turning on automatically) surprising and eventually totally frustrating the presenter
- When walking at night always keep a look out of giant pears. Ever since the appearance of humongous fruit, people have been living in terror.
- The paper cup wanted to cross the road. It seemed simple enough. The last one made it fine.
-Worker at a traveling carnival has the boring job of pressing the stop and go button on the Ferris wheel. One day he... Accidentally pushes the wrong button, or falls asleep and imagines something, or..
- Wood burning stove comes alive due to a lightning bolt hitting the smoke stack. It frees itself from the confinements of the house it was stuck in and goes out to explore the world, innocently warming people along the way.
- Nothing could separate Ellie and her pet slug.
-His name was manhole man...
- .. And that was how Violet learned that yes, things COULD always get worse.
- Steve had been a professional bird watcher for the last 20 years, traveling from one side of the world to the other determined to spy on every bird in existence. Now, armed with binoculars, bird books, and a keen eye he was out to observe the illusive Yellow-crowned Headsparrows. These birds were not only for their incredible speed but their unique characteristic of defense. As soon as a Yellow-crowned Headsparrow noticed it was being watched it would swoop at great speed to perch on the head of the perplexed bird watcher with the idea that it would not be seen. Extremely aggravating for any bird watcher.
- Office worker leans back in chair sitting in boring gray cubicle office, looses balance and starts to fall but suddenly is transported into another world... of falling. Suddenly cut to just the guy and the chair about to fall off a cliff. he falls off the cliff, caches a tree branch which flings him back into the sky where he gets scooped up by a large bird (or airplane) only to be dropped into raft only to fall down a waterfall, lands on pillar rock, rock looses balance and he falls with a thud to the earth which bleeds away to reveal him sprawled out on the floor, head up, rear still in the fallen over chair. After blinking a few times he looks inquisitively at his coffee cup, still clutched in his hand.
- Bob had a sinking feeling that building evacuation instruction manual had left out a few important bits.
- Brock knew that if he didn't climb up to the summit of Mt. Vager with a goldfish in tow the world would surely perish. He knew the goldfish was key but every time people asked why he was carrying around climbing equipment and a goldfish in a plastic bag, the idea seemed to sound increasing crazy, but he knew in his heart that the goldfish must reach the top. The word depended on it. ---- Once he eventually reaches to the barren narrow top of Mt. Vager, not exactly knowing what to do he pulls out the plastic bag containing the goldfish, and holds it aloft . He's done it! He's don... and with that a bird swoops down and snatches the goldfish away, leaving Brock a little shocked.
I'll keep adding ideas as I come up with them. Leave me comments and let me know what you think.
