Color palette

Here is my version of the color palette. Like we all agreed the setting is bright, murray is dull, the push mower is fadded and rusty, and the Mowmaster is shiny and new.

The Colors

Here is my color pallet. I'm still tweaking it and I'll replace this one with newer versions when I do. I don't have the colors yet for the MowMaster 3000 but I was thinking of taking the dull and rusted colors on the push mower and brightening and enhancing them to create a sense of contrast between the two mowers.

Scenes

Post of the list we made during class today:

Title: title screen shows
Push Mower: until he throws down push mower in frustration
Newspaper: until he walks of making call about ad in newspaper
Delivery: right after call until truck drives off frame and we only see the crate
Exploration: runs out, examines create, this continues until he figures out how to start it
Taking Off: MowMaster takes and Murray barely manages to stay on, ends when he falls off and comes to rest in the grass
Chase: when he gets to his feet and notices the MowMaster is coming right at him. Ends when he trips on the push mower
End of the line: when he looks over his shoulder from the ground, ends after the explosion
Happy Ending: Murray happily mowing with reconstructed push mower

Rough storyboard

Alright guys! Here is my version of the rough storyboard. Hopefuly this will help contribute to the final storyboard we will all work on together. After we looked over it intitially I know there are some changes that need to be made and I noticed some pacing issues already in the cut sequences. None the less, I figured this might help visualize the story anyway.

Here are my first sketch of the storyboards. These are not yet final. I apologize for the roughness of the drawings but I hope they successfully convey the actions.

Film opens with yard and a lawn of grass. Off camera we hear the sound of an approaching push mower which jams, pauses and continues before coming into frame. Title could appear here.
This shot is important to quickly establish the surroundings and give hint to the presence of a lawn mower that isn't mowing smoothly.

MowMaster Revised

Here is a revised concept sketch of the MowMaster 3000. I made it more representative of a tractor and I cut back on some of the bells and whistles. I think it looks a little more like a mower now. Let me know what you guys think.

Yard Reference

I spent a lot of time surfing around for photos of the kind of yard we were talking about in class but I haven't had much luck so I decided just to sketch out a possible layout.

Alternative to a background of houses

It might be interesting to consider a lawn that is not totally flat but might be a bit harder to do in 3D.

I like the oversaturated colors in this photo.

We seem to have a pretty good idea of what our lawn mowers are going to look like but here are a few more reference photos including a racing mower.
